Dhanushkodi and RamaSetu/Adam's Bridge View Point at Rameshwaram
Rameshwaram ("Rama's Lord") is one of the four pilgrimage places, Char Dham of India. This beautiful island has always been in spotlight for its unique mix of history, paralleled beauty, mystery, myth then be it on the Ramanathaswamy Temple, cyclone at Dhanushkodi town, Ramasetu/Adam's bridge, oldest and second largest bridge, marvel architectured temples, teerthams, sheer religious faith, abode of Shri APJ Abdul kalam and too many other things. I may fall out of words to put down why one should pay their visit to this holy shrine Rameshwaram, let me take you to the experience of places i have been to in Rameshwaram.
I have taken auto to dhanushkodi beach and the way to this place holds abundance beauty with unprecedented views of water on either sides of road. This place seemed to have frozen in time and was named Ghost town when was battered and bruised by cyclone that hit on 23rd December 1964 resulting you to see very few people and old churches on your way to beach. The cold breeze reaching with the calmness landed in serenity and my eyes glued to the blueish water either sides bordered with pebbles seemed presenting me a package of astonishment. Flowing in this moment i reached the place where the Indian Ocean merged with the Bay of Bengal.
The complete place offers you peace but yes as the place seemed to cling to its past its of an eldritch kind. Dhanushkodi beach is a point where Ramasetu starts with the beautiful stretch of sandy shore also known as Adams Bridge. This bridge is said to be placed by vanar sena when Rama has ordered Hanuman inorder to reach lanka by this bridge to rescue his wife Sita who was abducted by Ravana.
This has though been the mysterious place with too many and various other talks on how the bridge was built and if it actually existed so lets not get deep into it and get along the journey to enjoy this place which ofcourse fills you with too many surprises and mandatory to add in your list when in Rameshwaram.
